On Monday, October 22, 2007 the Trails End Cafe experienced extreme winds and fire in the local mountains. At 1:00 am on Tuesday morning the Trails End Cafe owner and cook had to load the two hounds, one big Labrador retriever and a cat into our truck and evacuate the neighborhood. We went to the owner's day job workplace where we joined our neighbors with their three horses and eight bird dogs. Luckily, our horse is currently at another ranch, in training. 107 firemen saved our property in a sixty mph firestorm. Neighbors who stayed assisted the firemen by extinguishing the burning brush behind our barn. Our power was out for four days, but we are now back up. We have fences down and tree limbs to cut up, but our houses and barns and the Trails End Cafe are safe! Pictures of Monday night are below:
